Before the confirmation hearings as nominee for the portfolio of Education Secretary, Betsy DeVos and her husband’s charity contributions to the education sector and the Republican Party were collated and examined. The couple’s generosity in giving money away can be assessed by the amount of money it doled out in 2015. However, over the last five years, the couple has contributed $5.3 million, double the amount spent in charity, to Republican Party’s campaign. These are the figures Betsy DeVos provided to the authorities as part of her documentation for the post of the Secretary of Education Department.

 

Dick and Betsy DeVos have been actively engaged in Republican politics, and the family’s two of the most active players in the Republican Party. The family’s association with the Republican Party started when Rich DeVos, the father of Dick DeVos and a noted businessman. Rich DeVos is also a prominent philanthropist, who, along with his children, in 2015 funneled out $104 million in charity. For its remarkable charity contributions, the family made to the 24th position on Forbes’ list of America’s Top Givers.

 

The primary focus of Dick and Betsy DeVos has the education sector. They have been contributing donations to improve the education choice for children and parents in the country. On the couple’s philanthropic agenda education makes the top item. Out of their total charity donations in 2015, 26 percent it was spent on the way of the cause of education. Similarly, the couple is also passionate about reforming education in the country and almost 3 percent of their charity in 2015 was aimed at education reform.

 

Dick DeVos is the son of the famous co-founder of Amway, Rich DeVos. He has decorated career in business and entrepreneurship. He is also actively engaged in politics and is an active player in Republican Party.
