In 2016, she partnered with her husband, Dr. Scott Rocklage, to give a major donation to the chemistry department of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The gift was aimed at helping the University to revamp the nanotechnology and nanochemistry lab that is situated in building two. The lab is used by Moungi Bawendi who is the Lester Wolfe professor of chemistry. Her husband earned his PhD from the institution’s chemistry department. In a recent visit to the MIT, Dr. Scott noted that the institution offered him the foundation for his professional life.
Presently, Patty lives in Sudbury, Massachusetts, where she is highly regarded. Patty volunteers for the Sudanese Education Fund, an organization that focuses on offering assistance to South Sudanese who have moved to Massachusetts. The fund assists them to find stable jobs, pursue education and have financial stability.
